SHOWCASE HOME FOR THE CURE
Home Study - Designer Tips
By Interior Concepts
Room Theme
The design was based on creating a Sophisticated Study where the home owner can go relax, read a book, have a cocktail and spend some down time after a long day at work.
We surrounded the room with original art pieces, glass art and pottery to give the home owner a place to enjoy their many treasured collectables.
Furniture Style and Placement
All the furniture was specifically selected with clean lines to keep the spaces open and airy, yet functional and stylish.
The desk has been placed by the window to provide full view to the fire place, art pieces and any guest visiting. It can be used as a writing desk, or for a lap top computer since it has a drop leaf drawer for a key board. With the desk placed by the window, natural light also filters through the window directly onto the desk surface.
The étagére with its many cubical shelves is perfect for displaying the glass art, pottery and books. Here also, keeping the furniture light in style.
For comfort, the upholstered armed chairs work well when one prefers just seating in the room enjoying a great book, and catching up on some reading.
Wall Colors
Wall colors were selected to create an uplifting environment, yet soothing to complement the overall room theme. The wainscot was glazed to tone down the wall color and allow the many colors of the art pieces to stand out.
The paint colors were selected by using the fabric from the chairs.

Window Treatment
The bright and bold print fabric was intentionally selected to bring some color to the window wall to balance it with the placement of the upholstered chairs, tagre, and fire place. The wainscot wall color continued on the upper part of the window treatment by selecting a fabric with the same color. To balance the stainless decorative elements in the room, the window treatment hardware - rosettes were also selected to bring a silver finish look to the window wall.
Area Rug
The area rug size, pattern, and color as well where it is positioned in the study create an overall balance in the room. With the angled walls at the fire place and the storage cabinet, the rectangular area rug gives the room a more defined shape. Here also, the bold colors and print complement the rooms art work and the bold pattern in the window treatment.
Lighting
Recessed lights were installed to light the art work, and lamps were placed in the room for soft task lighting.
Decorative Greenery
The floral arrangements in the iron urns were wall mounted to again maintain a balance throughout the perimeter of all the walls in the room.
